The Listening Room cafe

The Listening Room started in 2006 in Nashville with a simple idea: There’s nothing like hearing a great song performed live. Not as background music, not as something you shout to hear yourself over, but as the main attraction.

After fifteen successful years in Nashville, founder Chris Blair decided to open his second location in the beautiful Smoky Mountains of Pigeon Forge, TN. He set out to build the best-sounding original music venue in the Smokies, while featuring locally focused food and drink with the quality to match the music.

The result? A one-of-a-kind venue with the best singer-songwriters in the world bringing a taste of Nashville’s music scene to the beautiful Smoky Mountain city of Pigeon Forge. Visit the vibrant Mountain Mile area off of Teaster Lane, located just off the parkway behind The Island, and see for yourself!

Our Take

Friends of ours, Justin and Lindsay, invited us out to this venue. We have not heard of it so we really didn’t know what to expect. Aaron Scherz is a local cabin owner our friends work for, so we were introduced to Aaron beforehand. He seemed like a nice guy and he said he was a songwriter and at this venue you can not sing any “cover” songs, so they all need to be your own music.

Come to find out this guy wrote a lot of songs and some were performed by some big names like Kenny Chesney, Maddy and Tae and many more.

What was really cool was Aaron sat with his guitar for 90 minutes and told us stories about how he came up with his songs and a little about the song writing industry. Then he would sing his songs.

There was only about 50 people in the room so it was very intimate and interactive. He talked and joked with the crowd. He was funny, the music was really good and it was really fun listening to him. Some were written for women so he would say “pretend I am a teenage girl” lol. My wife is a bigger country fan than I am, but we had a really great time. The food was good and they serve all kinds of drinks.

Whether you are a country fan or not, this is a must see when you visit the area. You will not be disappointed!
