What’s Cookin’ Wednesday – Preacher’s Smokehouse

What a find

We heard that there was this BBQ place by Dunn’s Corner that was really good. It was only open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays (11-7). We stopped by last week and we were really impressed.

Sam, the preacher, has been serving the community for many years. His ministry, which included his 3 sons, has been feeding the poor and wherever they were needed. They rented this building to do the cooking. During the fires in Gatlinburg in 2016, they cranked things up and fed the first responders. Many people told them they should start a restaurant, so they decided to do just that. 

A diamond in the rough

When we pulled in it didn’t look like much, but it did have outdoor seating, which we like. Jenny got Pulled Pork, (I know this is what she always gets lol), baked beans and mac and cheese. I ordered burnt ends, fries and brisket chili. The burnt ends were awesome, they were well seasoned and tasted great. The fries were crispy and not greasy. The brisket chili was a great side and we could have had a meal out of it by itself. 

Ever since the virus, we love outdoor seating and there is a window to order from, so there is no need to go indoors at all. Although the tables seemed clean Jenny brought some disinfecting wipes for the tables and sauces. 

This was a great find and we will definitely come back!
