What’s Cookin’ Wednesday – Blue Moose

Pigeon Forge’s only family sports grill has been a best kept secret by the local residents for years.

Blue Moose serves a variety of casual American fare from the juiciest angus beef burgers, award winning jumbo chicken wings in 16 different flavors, hotdogs, salads and ice-cold beer. Blue Moose’s inviting atmosphere and 20 flat panel televisions, make it the “spot” to catch all the games.

Our Take

We have been doing a lot of take-out these days and we have had their wings twice. The first time was over a friend’s house and they did the ordering and serving. The wings were a good size, but they were a bit dry and not very flavorful, they were also mixed up on the tray. I wasn’t sure when the host ordered the wings if they were the ones to mix up the flavors. My wife Jenny does not like anything hot so this was a bit of an issue.

We decided to give them another try and bought the wings ourselves to watch the football game with my sister and brother in law. The restaurant was very crowded but they have a separate door for take-out. We got the same results – they were dry and bland.

We ordered 50 wings and 4 flavors and they came in a tray with no dividers or labeling of any kind. They all looked the same, not knowing what you were getting until you bit into it. It was like Tom Hanks in the movie Forest Gump. “It’s like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get”. We were very disappointed.

We feel we need to try to order something else because the reviews are so good for this restaurant, but we will not be ordering wings again.

I will keep you posted!
